What it does
Tell Earlie you are at the gym. He plans the visit with you, then takes you through it one exercise at a time and logs each set as you go. The whole visit is one session in your log, and the strength workout your watch records at the same time is part of it, not a second workout. Weights and the next step come in your unit, kilos or pounds.
How to use it
- Say you are at the gym. Earlie asks one short question before he starts.
- Do the exercise, then text “done”. Earlie logs it and sends the next one. If your words do not pin one machine (one word like “press”, “the shoulder raise thing”, or the sled when you were on another leg press), he asks you once first; your exact name, or your pick from the list he showed you, logs at once. Send only your top set, your sets with their weight (“3x10 60kg”, “3 sets of 10 at 60”: 3 sets of 10 at 60 kg), or every set in one line (“12x14, 12x32, 10x45”): Earlie keeps them all. A climb works too: “2x 6/4/2, top 70” saves all 6 sets, the top weight on the 2s. On a machine that helps you, like the assisted pull-up, less weight is harder: the set with the least help is your top set and your record, and Earlie tells you if you had more or less help than last time.
- Change the plan. Say “swap this” or “skip” at any point. Did another exercise in place of the one you were on? Tell Earlie what you did: he logs it and tells you which exercise came off today’s list. Did it first (“did bench first”)? It is added to the visit, and the exercise you were on stays next. When Earlie offers another machine, one yes swaps it. A machine your gym does not have? Say “I don’t have that here”: Earlie swaps it and never plans it at that gym again, and the team checks the gym’s list. Say it is there after all, or log a set on it there, and it comes back. A machine that is only taken is swapped for today. Not sure which machine you are on? Send a photo of it: Earlie reads the label and answers in a few seconds, and if the label cannot be read, he asks you which one it is, for example the one with the weight stack or the one with plates. He never asks for a photo you sent with your question.
- Had a bad night? Say so that day (“I slept badly”, “no energy today”) and the session goes easier: no record attempt, last time’s weights, the usual sets, and after three exercises one offer to stop. Say “I feel fine, normal session” to get the normal session back. The next day is normal again.
- Finish the visit. When your last exercise is in, the visit closes by itself, in one message: well done, a summary of the exercises you did with your records, a picture of your new record when there is one, and one question on how it felt (easy, just right or heavy). Want to stop early? Say “finish”. Your answer, even a short “right”, is saved on that visit, also when it comes within an hour of the close. Forgot one? Tell Earlie after: he asks for the weight and reps once and adds it as its own exercise. He never changes another exercise you logged. A wrong number in today’s visit? Tell Earlie the right one, and he corrects that exercise.
- See what your watch recorded. Ask about your training today or this week: each visit shows the minutes, the calories and the average heart rate your watch recorded for it. The watch usually sends its workout after you leave, so Earlie does not message you about it.
Limits
- The watch numbers join a visit only when the two happened at the same time, or when you told Earlie about the visit later and that day has one visit and one strength workout. A walk, a ride or a second workout stays apart.
- In a climb like “2x 6/4/2, top 70”, only the top weight is saved; the lighter sets keep their reps with no weight. A climb that goes up and down, or has no top weight on a loaded machine, gets one question instead.
- Earlie knows the machines only in gyms he has on file. Send photos of your gym and the team adds it. A gym owner can put the whole gym in Earlie from earlie.ai/gyms. To add one missing machine, ask Earlie and send its photo. Earlie keeps the photo of a machine he does not know for 7 days, so you can also ask later. When the team adds it, Earlie tells you once, and your history on it continues.
